Background
Virginia Commonwealth University is an urban educational institution located in the heart of the city of Richmond. The university offers over 200 academic programs and prides itself in being a supportive environment for real-world learning, hands-on research, and local partnerships. As Richmond’s largest employer, VCU employs 24,000 community members while also having over 28,000 actively enrolled students.
Objective
VCU needed an intuitive solution to support all levels of events, including those aimed at attracting the best and brightest students to the university. Of utmost importance was high speech intelligibility, a great-sounding environment, and crisp visual presentation capabilities.
Our Solution
Productive’s audio-visual team provided VCU with a simple, reliable, rider-friendly solution by upgrading the room’s audio technology, installing new HD projection screens, and integrating user-friendly Q-SYS control systems. For maximum sound comprehensibility, our team opted for Biamp column array speakers, 15-inch subwoofers, and a Shure wireless microphone system. We installed 144″ wide HD projection screens with laser projectors for a top-notch visual experience. To maintain the aesthetics of the space, we custom-fabricated mounting equipment to give the projection screens a floating effect. Lastly, our team integrated custom control systems that would enable end-users to quickly and easily make adjustments to the Ballroom’s A/V technology as needed.
